The Moon Chair Sonnet

reading time: less than 1 minute

Poem Written By Travis Knight

Oh, magnificent melancholic moon,

how you loiter like a cosmic balloon.

Wheezing heart pants behind the ocean’s dreams,

hiding away yet yearning to be seen.

Your dreary glow glistens, reticently,

shining your speech down on moon chair and me.

That’s where I go to speak to you, my friend,

a commonplace where I, too, can ascend.

You crawl across the sky, wholly in search

of newly carved paths to suddenly birth.

I feel connected to all where you’ve been,

while I watch you sadly pass by again,

Not this time, moon, cosmic tips puppeteer

both of us: you above, and me down here.
